 Quizzing in India differs from quizzing in the United States and the United Kingdom in that it is diversified, with several genres catering to various geographical regions, age groups, and hobbies.  In 1967, Neil O'Brien held the first documented, official quiz in Calcutta's Christ the King Church Parish Hall (now Kolkata). O'Brien, who had recently returned from England and had been exposed to pub quiz culture there, introduced quizzing to the Anglo-Indian community first, before spreading to a wider audience. O'Brien continued to participate in quizzes, eventually presenting popular quiz show broadcasts such as "North Star Quiz."
